Orange-Spice Coffee

Serve this spicy, great-smelling coffee and the one you love will always remember that certain summer Sunday. SAM

1 tablespoon firmly packed brown sugar
1/16 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/16 teaspoon ground cloves
1/16 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
2 top-to-bottom strips of orange peel 1/4-inch wide, scraped clean of white rind
2 tablespoons orange liqueur, divided

Whipped cream or whipped topping

In a small bowl, combine the sugar, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg. Place 1 1/2 teaspoons of the spice mixture in each of 2 coffee mugs. Add 1 strip of orange peel and 1 tablespoon orange liqueur. Fill each cup with coffee and top with whipped cream.

Wow…my husband and I experiment with different dessert type coffees after dinner. Usually it is simply sweetened coffee with whipped cream on top. I have used raspberry syrup with cinnamon sprinkled on my whipped cream.

So, I am thrilled to have yet another coffee idea. THANKS!

    Hi Jolynna,

‘Glad you like the coffee. You could take the basic recipe and make any number of fancy coffees—sugar, spices, and a little liqueur or cognac. Ground cardamon would be great. Raspberry syrup sounds wonderful. How about lemon coffee? What’s the divine Italian liqueur? Lemoncello? This is sounding better and better!
